Korea is where it's at, ya'll!!

So this is my first post on my brand new, straight out of the box, still dusting the packing peanuts off, blog space. Forgive me if it looks like an amature did it, becuase, well, it is in fact ran by an amature! I have been in Songtan, South Korea for exactly one month now and I think I finally have my wits about me. It took me a good week or so to get on track with the time change. It was HORRIBLE waking up at 3 in the morning and ready for bed by 6 at night. Now I'm on my school schedule of waking up at 5:15 every morning to be ready to leave by 6:45 for school. Talk about a 180 from my college sleeping routine. I remember many a night were I didn't hit the sack until 5 in the morning.
I have so much to talk about and so many picture to post but if you want you can check out my facebook.com page and I have a bunch of pictures on there.
My roommates are great! One is none other than the famous Miss Laurie Lambert, my cousin and extraordinary 5th grade teacher at ICS-Pyongtaek. She's the one that sorta seeded the thought of coming over here. My other roommate is the fab secondary social studies teacher, Miss Christina Jones from Little Rock Arkansas. Gotta love the southern sarcasim!

Our attempt at a roommate picture. You should see the other ones!!
Thugg'n it out before church!
Anyway, the real reason we're all here, to teach at the biggest little school this side of the East Sea....International Christian School-Pyongtaek! (aka the Gray Box)Its a school of roughly 200 students K-12 and employs about 23 teachers. Theres's more love there than many schools combined. I've been given the opertunity to teach k-12 PE and be the athletic director. Coming this winter I'll be assistant girls basketball coach and this spring I'll be assistant girls soccer coach. Talk about a full plate!! God has a reason for everything!
The Grey Box!

The "gym" and my domain.
My office. Gotta love the seaside view!

My white board during Open House. To avoid the confusion of TWO Miss Lamberts in the building, I'm going by Coach Lambert. Funny, isn't it?!
Okay I have so many pictures I want to put on here so I'm just going to start puttn them up. They're pretty random. You can tell the earlier ones becuase of my blonde hair, which I have recently died a dark brown-ish color. I hope you enjoy.

My first bus ride.

My room-trust me, it looks better than this and if you let me know in advance it might even be clean by the time you get here!

Girls gotta make a livin these days...and yes there is Popeyes over here!

Figurin out the subway system to Seoul.
Visitin my very good friend Jessica who lives in Seoul. She teaches at YISS, also a NICS school. She's pretty amazing.

Some of the most amazing women you'll meet. They all teach at YISS in Seoul. We all met at PFO this summer.

Laurie and I did a little beaut-ifing before school started. She chopped her hair and I got it trimmed at a great little place ran by Miss Piggy. No joke.

The first day of school!! Not the normal attire but I figured I'd dress up one time this year! Normally I wear shorts and a t-shirt with my trusty whistle.

Korean meals-a flurry of side dishes, many of which you're better of not knowing what they are...but its all good....sorta...

Christina and I went to the U-17 World Cup soccer game in Chenon S. Korea. USA vs. Germany. It was amazingly fun. I will post the rest of the pictures on my next blog.
Well fellow passengers on this madian voyage of my blog. I have much more to post and will be posting shortly about our recent staff retreat to the east coast of korea. Until then, PEACE from KOREA!
